San Jacinto College music students have been selected for the Texas Two-Year College All-State choir, jazz band, and symphonic band. This achievement represents the highest honor a community college music student can attain, highlighting the exceptional talent and dedication of these musicians.
Each year, the Texas Music Educators Association hosts auditions for the All-State ensembles, recognizing top-performing music students from community colleges across the state. The rigorous selection process involves intense auditions, where students must demonstrate advanced technical skills, musical interpretation, and proficiency.
“Earning a spot in an All-State ensemble is no small feat. It takes discipline, passion, and months of preparation,” said Lynne Brandt, Central Campus music department chair. “This is a testament to the outstanding music program at San Jac, as well as the dedication of our students and faculty.”
The selected students will travel to the TMEA convention in San Antonio, where they will rehearse and perform with top musicians from across Texas under the direction of renowned conductors. The convention offers a valuable opportunity for students to network with professionals, gain exposure to new musical techniques, and further develop their artistry.
San Jacinto College’s music program has long been recognized for its excellence, fostering a strong tradition of student success. With a curriculum designed to prepare students for professional careers in music and seamless transfer to four-year universities, the college continues to be a leading institution for aspiring musicians.
This latest achievement reinforces San Jacinto College’s commitment to providing high-quality music education and performance opportunities.
