Earn your Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) through our partnership with FleetForce. This comprehensive, hands-on program prepares you for a career in professional truck driving with focused instruction in cab skills, vehicle inspection, and safe operating procedures aligned with Department of Transportation (DOT) standards. Students gain real-world experience operating a tractor-trailer in both city and highway environments, learning proper control, maneuvering, and defensive driving techniques across a variety of traffic conditions and equipment configurations.
4 weeks
You can complete the 160 credit hours for this program in 4 weeks.
Before you begin this program, please check out the requirements:
Age
Be at least 18 years of age.
Physical Health
Be in reasonably good physical condition and have no serious physical handicaps. Must
not be under doctor’s care with work limitations hindering your ability to do assigned
class and skills work. (For guidelines, please read the Physical Qualifications and Examinations.)
English Proficiency
Applicants who were born outside the U. S. or who graduated from high school outside
of the U.S. must provide proof of competency in English or pass the English Proficiency
Test administered by the Testing Center at the college. For appointments with the
Testing Center, call 281-998-6350 ext. 2025.
Texas Driver’s License
Must possess a valid Texas Drivers License.
Social Security Number
Must possess a valid Social Security number.
Birth Certificate
May need an original or certified copy of your birth certificate.
Travel Capabilities
Must be legally able to travel throughout the state of Texas.
Commercial Learner's Permit
Must obtain a Commercial Learner's Permit. Schedule an appointment at a Texas DPS
Office to take your knowledge tests. You will take four knowledge tests costing $25
at a Texas DPS Office. You have three attempts per test. If you fail one test three times, you will have to start the entire
process over.

When you successfully complete Professional Truck Driver Class CDL-A program at our
Central Campus, you'll earn your Occupational Certificate and be allowed to test for
the Texas Commercial Drivers License-A, which qualifies you for professional driving
jobs.
San Jac offers flexible schedules, with day classes that can be completed in about
6 weeks, while evening or weekend formats take up to 12 weeks, letting you train at
a pace that fits your lifestyle.

for non-credit (CPD) courses.
A limited number of scholarships are awarded on a first-come, first-serve basis until
funds are depleted. For most programs, the grant covers the entire cost of tuition.
You may be responsible for purchasing books and/or supplies.
To be eligible, you must meet the following requirements:
Demonstrated financial need.
No outstanding student loans in default or any past due balance owed to the College.
Must meet all requirements of your selected training program, which may include: background
check, drug screen, high school diploma/GED, etc.
Must have a G number (San Jac student ID). You will not be able to apply without a
G number.
