Plumbing technology is the study of how water, gas, and waste move through pipes in homes and buildings.

Plumbers install, maintain, and repair piping systems. They also work on fixtures, water heaters, drains, and other plumbing equipment.

Yes! Plumbing is a high-demand trade, with job growth in Texas projected to increase by about 22% over the next decade.

Graduates may pursue careers in residential, commercial, industrial, or maintenance plumbing. Some graduates may also choose to become contractors or business owners.

Yes. Graduates are qualified to take the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation exam for the Tradesman Plumber-Limited license.

No prior experience is required. The program is designed to teach foundational plumbing skills from the ground up.

You’ll learn how to:

  • Create an isometric drawing of a plumbing system that includes drains, waste, vent, and hot- and cold-water systems
  • Install domestic water lines
  • Rough-in drain, waste, and vent pipes
  • Explain valve applications
  • Describe basic public health and safety related to plumbing systems
  • Repair drain, waste, and vent pipes

You’ll learn skills employers are looking for through training shaped by industry partnerships. Abacus Plumbing, Air Conditioning & Electrical supported the Plumbing Technology program by donating tools, equipment, piping, and materials used in hands-on training labs.

You may also have opportunities to connect with industry professionals through mentorship and field trips.

If you attend full time, you can complete the Occupational Certificate in one semesters (4 months).

ABACUS PARTNERS WITH SAN JACINTO COLLEGE TO TRAIN FUTURE PLUMBERS

Abacus Plumbing, Air Conditioning, and Electrical has partnered with San Jacinto College to outfit the College’s new Plumbing Technology program at the North Campus.

After committing to support the program, Abacus partnered with one of its longtime suppliers, National Wholesale Supply, to provide tools, equipment, piping, hardware, and other plumbing materials. These donations will help equip the students’ hands-on training lab.

Workforce Development Grows Through Abacus Plumbing ESL Program

Abacus Plumbing, Air Conditioning & Electrical is partnering with San Jacinto College to help new employees build their English skills. The 10-week ESL course includes 40 hours of classroom instruction and self-paced learning.
